Flexible CO2 capture for open-cycle gas turbines via vacuum-pressure swing adsorption: A model-based assessment

چکیده
As energy systems require flexible and responsive power generators to combat network imbalances, CO 2 post-combustion capture (PCC) technologies need be capable of transient operation. However, currently only amine absorption has been investigated for its efficacy in Flexible-PCC. Within this study we develop validate a vacuum-pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) process model, processing 33.8 kg/s exhaust flow from small-scale open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT). The Flexible response scenario is based on realistic load changes OCGTs during 5-h period. To handle the size system split into two identical bed four step VPSA processes, both using Zeolite 13X as adsorbent material. Included Flexible-VPSA operation start-up, ramping, shutdown procedures. showed minute deviations purity recovery rate, despite specific demand increasing, results show no technical limitations simulations are compared against benchmark MEA solvent, with performing similarly when highly flue flowrate. Thus, potentially an attractive alternative technology • model developed validated pilot scale data. Concerns scaling shown explained. Producing Nitrogen via Pressure Swing Adsorption
Nitrogen gas is a staple of the chemical industry. Because it is an inert gas, nitrogen is suitable for a wide range of applications covering various aspects of chemical manufacturing, processing, handling, and shipping. Due to its low reactivity, nitrogen is an excellent blanketing and purging gas that can be used to protect valuable products from harmful contaminants. It also enables the safe...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Capture and Hydrogen Purification from Synthesis Gas by Pressure Swing Adsorption
Global warming has become more and more serious, which is caused by greenhouse gases. Cutting down the emission of CO2 has already become one of the major research target in the world. This study utilized a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process to separate high-purity hydrogen and to capture CO2 from synthesis gas, which is the effluent stream of water-gas-shift reactor. The purified H2 can b...
متن کاملOn the potential of phase-change adsorbents for CO2 capture by temperature swing adsorption.
We investigate the potential of a class of recently discovered metal-organic-framework materials for their use in temperature swing adsorption (TSA) processes for CO2 capture; the particularity of the considered materials is their reversible and temperature dependent step-shaped CO2 adsorption isotherm. Specifically, we present a comprehensive modeling study, where the performance of five diffe...
متن کاملCapture of Co 2 by Vacuum Swing Adsorption Process Using Activated Carbon Beads
Pitch-based AC beads (particle size about 1mm) were synthesized from coal tar pitch through the emulsion method without using binder material in our laboratory. Adsorption equilibrium and adsorption kinetics of CO2 and N2 on the activated carbon beads were studied experimentally and theoretically. Based on the equilibrium and kinetics data, an improved vacuum-pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) pr...
